Who Put This Web Site Together?
First, let me say, that I am not an expert on homeschooling or web design. I am simply a mom of two who decided to homeschool after moving to a new area. I have a hearing impaired son and, coming from a district where they had a wonderful program for the hearing impaired, I was disappointed to find what they had in the area we moved to.
Upon acquiring a computer, hooking up to the Internet, and finding so many wonderful, educational web sites (I was amazed at how much was out there!), I decided to compile all those sites into one spot. I learned how to make a web site and share everything I had found with anyone else searching for these types of sites. My only goal was to compile educational sites into a form that would make it easy to find exactly what you were looking for. Yes, my site is simple, without some of the fancy "scripts" and navigational tools, as I find so many other things in my life to accomplish other than web design. I do hope to create more time in the future to learn more advanced web design, but until then...

Going in to the 2002-2003 school year, this is our 8th year homeschooling. I have so enjoyed the time with my kids! Yes, I have had many folks question not only my ability to school my own kids, but also if it's the best thing for them. It's been frustrating and hurtful to stand before someone and be judged like that. After so many years, I have realized that it is only ignorance on their part, and keep that in mind when they are telling me that my kids need to go to school so they can be bullied and learn how to take "hits" from other kids so that they can become a stronger person (one of many comments...ouch). These folks just have no idea of all the blessings that come from schooling your own kids.
I have a friend who once gave me an analogy. She said, "If public school were one of your children's peers' house, would you let them go over there to play?"
No, my children have not participated in bullying other kids or being bullied by other kids, although they know it happens every day and have been exposed to it in our own neighborhood. They know about the drugs, the sex, the weapons, and the violence they are missing out on every day. They also know how a baby is born, what squared and cubed means, how a cloud is formed, and where the Black Sea is. Along with the knowledge, they are learning to be sensitive, caring, intelligent individuals. They are good friends to each other. They care about our neighbors, friends, and family. They are comfortable socializing with ANY age. They have learned to say thank you, to take turns, to have compassion for others, whether they appear healthy and able, or whether they are disabled in some way. If these sort of things are the ONLY things my kids have learned, I would feel I've done a wonderful job with them. I have never regretted homeschooling, although it's nice to take a break sometimes (smile). Although the sacrifice has been great, the rewards are even greater!
I hope that you find much help from my site and will come back often! Thanks for visiting! :)
